Overview
During the Turkish invasion of 1974 all the conscripted residents of Moutoulla, and several non-conscripted residents, joined the National Guard. Several took part in battles in the areas: Tilliria, Green Line of Nicosia, Kyrenia and Mia Milia. Some, unfortunately, fell on the battlefields and in the performance of their duty to their country. A simple and modest monument in Moutoullas commemorates the heroic dead. Participation in the National Battles The inhabitants of Moutoulla were characterized by a patriotic spirit and participated in all national games. We have evidence of participation in the Greek-Turkish war of 1896-97. Later in the First World War. In October (1931) the National Youth of Mutoulla showed admirable activity. Special was the case of the Moutoullian teacher Evagora Chiratis who was appointed in Strubi, Pafos. He was in charge of the village youths who went to Paphos. As a result he was removed from his position. In World War II, 10 Moutoullians went on foot to Nicosia to enlist. In the end 18 Moutoulla residents took part in the war. Moutoullas participated in the struggle of 1955-59. In 2015, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the start of the struggle, the Community Council and the Association of Expatriates awarded 38 people for their participation in the struggle.
